Iraq plans to restore crude oil production from its southern fields to above 3 million barrels per day, with officials expecting output to return close to pre-disruption levels within one to two months.
The Ministry of Oil said production is being gradually increased after earlier disruptions linked to regional tensions and restrictions affecting the Strait of Hormuz. Restart efforts are focused on key fields producing oil, gas, and condensates essential for domestic energy supply.
Officials noted that recovery is progressing at different speeds across fields, while many international operators, including Chinese companies, remained active during the disruption, helping speed up the restart process.
The return of normal export flows is expected to continue alongside rising production as conditions stabilise in the region.
